Spring Term

Girl's 7-a-side Football Tournament

The first week of Spring brought Eastway's first football tournament of the year.  Unfortunately, it also brought in the wind and rain!  However, it did not dampen the spirits of our Year 5 and 6 girls!  They performed valiantly through the competition, growing in confidence with each game.

In the first game, Eastway showed lots of energy by chasing down the opposition at every chance - the game ended in a draw.

After the first few minutes of the second game Eastway found themselves behind 3-0.  This didn't affect Eastway's commitment as they continued to persevere.

The final game was a real thriller!  Eastway dominated much of the play, which rallied the crowds watching!  Unfortunately, after all of Eastway's attacking the other team managed to slip through the defence a score a goal.  The game ended 1-0, but it was definitely Eastway's best performance.

Well done Year 5 and 6 - you made Eastway proud!

The SOC in Action!

The S.O.C.

This term sees the beginning of the SOC - Eastway's Sports Organising Crew!

The SOC's mission:   To transform sport at Eastway!

Over the next few weeks the SOC will be creating, organising and officiating new competitions and activities across the whole school.  There will be plenty going on, so watch this space!

Congratulations to the first members of the SOC!

After 'tonnes' of application forms, these 16 sport-enthusiasts were chosen.  Their application forms showed that they understand the importance of teamwork, they have creative ideas and are keen to support the younger children by developing their sporting abilities.  Well done!
