I am originally from Liverpool but now live this side of the Mersey. I have been teaching for seven years and can honestly say I love my job. I am massively into Music and Performing- especially Musical Theatre and Disney. I worked for a year in Shanghai, China for Disney - Magical! I feel very lucky to be part of the Eastway team and I look forward to working, helping and supporting you and your children.

Our aim in SCD 2 is to involve all children in the social and academic life of the school wherever possible. We strive to provide positive learning experiences for all our children. We recognise that some children with Social and Communication Difficulties can find the world confusing and often miss-leading.  We see each child as an individual and it is our aim to equip them with specific strategies and support to promote their inclusion and reduce potential anxieties.

Teaching approaches that are used within the resource bases are tailored to the individual and incorporate thinking from a wide range of sources, including: social stories, visual prompts and structured short burst teaching. The curriculum is weighted to address the personal, social and communication needs of the pupils.  The base is located in a classroom that has been adapted to provide an ‘SCD’ friendly environment with direct access to an outside area.

We also make use of well being activities including relaxation, sensory circuits, peer massage, ALERT program and we even have our own sensory/ calming room. If our children are feeling "just right" they will make excellent progress both personally and academically.

Welcome Back!
We hope you have had a lovely Christmas and New Year and are ready for a busy term.
Our topic this term is "Superheroes" and there will be a weekly homework task set for you to find out what your child has learnt this week.
As always, if there is anything special or interesting that you do with your child out of school we would love to hear about it and share this during our weekly circle time.

We encourage our children to read as much as possible both in school and at home.
A set homework task will be given out each Thursday and is to be brought back into school by the following Tuesday. This task is to be completed in the Children's homework logs.
Please feel free to share any trips/ home learning that you do.
