Strategies to help manage anxiety

Morning School begins at 8.55 a.m for all children, our Early Years pupils start their sessions at 8.45am. The school gates are open from 8.40am and parents will leave their children at the gate to enter school independently and start their morning learning tasks. Our younger children in EYFS can be accompanied to their class door to be greated by their teacher. Whilst it can be possible to talk to teachers on the gate briefly at this time or pass messages on, it is advisable to make an appointment to see Class Teachers should you wish to discuss any matter of concern needing more time or in confidence.

Toast Club Information

We run a morning Toast Club in Family Centre our school canteen, every morning from 7.45am. All children are welcome to attend and it is a lovely session, staffed by the Eastway Team. Children can eat their breakfast, have a milkshake or juice, play board games, chat with their friends or catch up on their home learning.

There will be a small charge of £1 per child per day, a half price reduction to those families entitled to Free School Meals or have claimed for them in the last 6 years. If you are unsure whether you qualify for the reduction, please speak to the office staff who can see if your child is listed as Pupil Premium. There will be no need to book your child in, it will be a drop in session and parents can pay on the day or for the week or term.

Morning Breaktime is at 10.30 a.m. and the children go out to the playground during this time. All the children play together under the supervision of teachers and teaching assistants. A timetable is provided for the use of the Trim Trail, MUGA and Adventure Play Area. Free milk is provided for all children at morning playtime and fruit is given to children in Early Years and Key Stage One.

Lunch Times are organised in sittings and each sitting, together with the time spent outside, is supervised by our Lunchtime Supervisors, teaching assistants and a duty teacher. The children have the option of bringing sandwiches or having a school meal, cooked on the premises. Full use is made of our playground and field areas and on the occasions when the weather is wet, the children play in the classroom. Their will be extra curricular and sports clubs clubs that run at lunchtime every day, as well as social and emotional targeted interventions for our more vulnerable pupils.

The School Day finishes at 3.15 pm for all children. The children are dismissed by their class teachers into the care of the regular adult collecting them. If these arrangements need to be altered for any reason Parents are asked to inform their child’s class teacher.
